Things to Do

Mill Valley Municipal Golf Course is the centerpiece of the Country Club neighborhood. This challenging nine-hole par 33 course was bought by the City of Mill Valley in 1939. The course is located on a gorgeous 42-acre expanse of creeks, hills, and soaring mature redwoods. Anyone can book a tee time at the course, and many residents are members of the club and participate in a regular tournament scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month. After playing, members head to the rustic Clubhouse for an evening of dinner, cocktails, and contests. There is a special event for members at Christmastime with a meal, live music, and other activities, and other tournaments and events are organized on the golf course and at the Clubhouse throughout the year. The facilities are also available for private hire.

Younger residents can join the Youth on Course program to enjoy discounted play on the course and participation in junior tournaments. A beginners’ par three course is ideal for those just getting started at golf. Other amenities at Mill Valley Golf Course include a putting green and pro shop. Professional PGA staff are on hand at the putting green to help golfers of all skill levels develop their game. The pro shop offers sales and rentals of clubs, carts, apparel, and other golfing equipment. The course also offers a snack bar selling beer, soft drinks, and quick bites to eat.

Another longtime recreational gathering place in the community is Mill Valley Tennis Club. Founded in 1929, Mill Valley Tennis Club boasts excellent facilities for both tennis and swimming. The Tennis Club has more than 30 league teams and championships for all ages and ability levels. There are men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles tournaments for adults alongside a range of summer camps, after school programs, and junior championships for children and teenagers. A heated outdoor swimming pool at Mill Valley Tennis Club opens between March and October with lifeguards, diving boards, and a wading pool for younger swimmers. The Tennis Club’s café and bar are favorite local gathering places, with many social events for residents. You can enjoy frequent pool parties and barbeques plus annual gatherings including Spring Fling, Crawfish Broil, and Halloween and holiday parties for kids.
